I'm not surprised that individuals don't want to out themselves. WIS kids regularly report finding college easier than the last two years of high school, though, and you can see exactly where they've matriculated since 2021: https://www.wis.edu/university-counseling

I am very confused.

A degree is something you earn in college or beyond. An "advanced degree" would be one beyond a bachelor's. You can go onto to bachelor's and advanced degrees from either IB or non-IB high school programs.

Are you asking about the "Advanced Diploma"? If so, you can earn that and complete the IB Diploma Program. There's no need to choose.

OP, you and your DC really need to look into colleges that your DC is interested in going to get a better answer to your question. Many of the more competitive ones will want the 'most rigorous' classes taken. In your DC's case that would be taking a full IB course load and being a diploma candidate.

As everyone else said it is a lot of writing, but your DC will be ready for college. I had 2 go through it in FCPS and they ended up at selective schools as well. But, in the end it comes down to your DC.

IB in FCPS was very rigorous for my bright kid and she said she was very well-prepared for her selective private university.

sounds like your kid didn't get enough credit or push hard enough to start in a higher level class or attended an institution that wasn't academically rigorous enough.

I've heard this from several IB kids, that IB set them up very well for college from a writing and juggling work load perspective.
