We're all descended from tons of people, some of whom were total a-holes. Get a few generations down the line and it's more interesting to know if you look like that person and you have no emotional baggage.

The daughter in question may already have a copy or two. It doesn't have to be a negative reason.

Not weird at all!

OP, I displayed photos of people we found tucked away in the attic of our 1930s house. We traced back the history of the house and census records but never were sure it’s who it was. The pictures were absolutely gorgeous and fit with the character of the house. They weren’t prominently displayed (in a guest bedroom), but I loved those pictures! Please keep and display your family photos!!

This reminds me that when my parents sold a Victorian summer cottage, the buyer insisted on getting certain antiques with the house and one was a framed photo of my great-grandmother as a young woman.

Just recently, after 25 years, the house was sold again by an heir, and through a casual contact between my cousins and the heir, somehow we received back one of these antiques. I wonder what happened to the picture. We have high quality xeroxes of it.

It’s totally fine. It is family history and also has sentimental value for you because you’ve long loved seeing it in your mom’s home.

I too took these photos and cherish them.
