Only 3??? I've seen hundreds this year. Didn't see a single one last year, or ever.

Please don't use sticky tape or you will catch beneficial pollinators. It would be a terrible way for them to die.

You can try using Imidacloprid, permethrin, bifenthrin, and carbaryl - the are all among the pesticides recommended for controlling spotted lanternflies.

I'm in Arlngton and have been seeing them for about a month. The first two were TINY TINY TINY - would never have noticed them if I weren't scrutinizing my milkweed plants. One I saw the other day on my front porch was just a bit bigger. But even as specks, they are very distinctive with those white spots.

It's likely that eggs were laid somewhere on/around your deck/yard and they hatched there. Wintertime, or by Feb/early March, is the time to look around your sheds and decks, tree trunks, etc. for hatches of eggs and scrape them into a bag and destroy. They can be hard to find.

No, it's supposed to kill them. Essentially they drown. Spray 'em good.

Yes, you are missing something. Soap water suffocates bugs. 100% effective, every single time.
