I’m sure you were one of the many to make this comments but still whined that your husband did nothing for you for Mother’s Day.

Really, nothing. Long ago DH announced that Mother’s Day is a Hallmark/manufactured holiday and except for visiting or calling his own mom and occasionally rallying our DC to see her on MD, business as usual.

Although on my first MD, DH and I took our infant on a weekend away - we called MIL to wish her a happy day and she refused to come to the phone - was so insulted that WE had slighted her in such a public manner.

All of above informs and guides me.

I'm the dad, but we're going to New York to see the new Pirates of Penzance adaptation. It wasn't consciously a Father's Day thing, but I'm excited for it and treating it as my celebration.

We'll all go out for lunch and kids will make cards (facilitated by me). If DH wants to do a family outing we'll do whatever he wants, but he's a homebody so usually just wants to chill at home. We don't do gifts for Mothers Day or Fathers Day.

Kids are going to Busch Gardens with a friend and her dad so we're going to the pool to lounge and read plus getting a boozy lunch.

Exactly what I thought.

DS has an event with my mom earlier in the day so is spending Saturday night with her. So DH and I are going out to his favorite restaurant/bar and then having a leisurely morning in. After we get DS, we are going to their favorite "Dad/son" restaurant which is just a local chicken place they like. We are headed to Japan soon and DS picked out this Samurai experience thing for them to do one afternoon and I booked a private cooking class for the 3 of us (DH loves to cook and loves doing local cooking classes in different countries).
