I think it's fine. You're an out of towner. So it won't hurt to look like it.
Many years ago during the DC power skirt suit era, I wore a red wool skirt suit with pretty satin embroidery to a winter wedding in midtown Manhattan at some university club. When I got there, I was definitely the the most colorfully-dressed but nobody looked at me funny. But I felt like I looked almost Texan. Like channeling Ann Richards.
