Montreal is closer than Quebec and a lively city. Different languages add to a change of place.

I was in San Diego just a few weeks ago, and although the weather is pretty mild (most days are sunny and 60s-70s year-round), when the sun is out, it can be intense and hot. I was outdoors for an afternoon wedding and got a sunburn! If you’re not in the shade, you need to be careful about sun exposure.

I also have a child with a rare skin condition that is very susceptible to skin cancer.

We tend to head north. It’s also a question of how direct the rays are rather than just how much cloud cover an area has. It’s also easier to wear a long sleeved shirt when it’s 70 out than when it’s 95.

Possible ideas- Boston, Montreal, Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland (either really).

Also - in case you aren’t familiar, make sure you look into the pediatric dermatology sleep-away summer camps next year. These are generally completely free of charge including transportation there. I’m mostly familiar with Camp Wonder. The woman who runs it is amazing.

Scandinavia or Southern Hemisphere. Still cover her skin, though, obviously.

Anywhere in South America as it is winter there during the summer. Or Iceland.

Alaska would be great weather-wise but doesn’t seem to align with your daughters interests

I burn easily and often wear long-sleeved linen or super thin cotton blouses even when it’s hot. I survived in the Mediterranean in July and noticed lots of other fair skinned people doing the same.

Why don’t you go to Argentina, Australia or New Zealand, where it will be their winter?

Alaska works too

London is hit or miss. It can be hot or chilly and rainy in the summer, and the AC is not great or nonexistent.

Australia, of course.

In recent years, London has been VERY hot in summer. And they don't have the infrastructure to handle extreme summer heat because AC was not traditionally part of their old buildings.

This is the case in most of Western Europe now.

I lived in London from 2018-21 and go back frequently.
