It really is. Last month we moved away from the DC area and on my long drive to our new home I passed by a few Buc-ees. I stopped in a couple to use the restroom and it's bizarre how extreme the "people of Walmart" type it was. I remember thinking "This isn't real-right? These must be paid actors to just create a specific ambiance here." I literally felt like I was on some type of Truman Show experience that everyone else was in on except me.

I see home values within a 20 mile radius of these places skyrocketing, especially if they extend the Metro to Fredericksburg.

I stopped at one once in Tennessee. Never again. Horrifyingly crowded, bathrooms no different than anywhere else (just a longer line), and nothing I wanted to buy. It was like knock off hallmark on one side of the store with jesus tshirts and "faith family friends" signs, and a buccees convention on the other with buccees themed pajamas and pool floaties and dog toys.

Maybe the food is good but I wasn't going to wait in a line 30 people deep to go to the fudge counter.

I don't like the name, so I wouldn't go there.

Buc-ees isn’t better than a Wawa, it’s just MORE. 6 gas pumps? No, 60! 1 rack of snacks? No, 1 rack of hundreds is THE SAME snacks! 2 slurpie machines? No, 15 slurpie machines!

It has little variety, just larger quantities. I agree with the Cracker Barrel crossed with Walmart comment, down to the ticky-tacky home decor and cheap branded clothing.

Been in 2 on road trips. No need to do that again.

I love Buc-ees, and I'm occasionally snooty about such things. The snacks and drinks are top notch, and they have a lot of fun merchandise.

I stopped in one once and couldn’t get out of there fast enough. So many dumb people. The bathrooms were no cleaner than a highway rest stop. I actually have never been in a bad rest stop in Virginia. They’re all clean.

I probably wouldn't drive hours specifically for a Bucc-ees, but on the road I will certainly stop at one. Clean bathrooms, great snacks ( and brisket) and good gas prices. Plus the store is fun.

My first stop on my road trip next month is Bucc-ees! It means we're really on vacation!
