I had no idea pencil marks could stay forever! I've stabbed myself before accidentally but I guess the lead always came out...

I have had the tip of a pencil in the palm of my hand for 40 plus years. Hasn't caused me any issues so far!

My sister still has the mark from probably 1983.

I wonder if soaking in salt water would draw it out enough to use a fine needle to get it out? A cm long is a big mark to have on the hand for life. Or see a dermatologist…

But especially for a boy, I wouldn’t worry too much about the scar. Things happen.

I’ve had a wood splinter in my thigh since 1989.

My mom, who is 81, has had a piece of pencil lead in her leg since she was in elementary school.

Mom has a road cinder on her knee, husband has a piece of pencil in him, son has a pencil dot on his leg. Nobody fussed about it but it doesn't go away.

A dermatologist might be able to do something.

Stepped on a newly sharpened pencil in 1983. Still have the mark on my foot.

I would take a sterilized needle and get it out. If not it will be a permanent mark. And pencil lead is often not clean. I have a pencil mark on my shoulder when I plopped onto my bed and had left a pencil on my bed after doing my math homework. My son got a tiny bit of pencil lead stuck on the back of his wrist from another kid and I picked it out with a needle. Then slathered neosporin.

I poked my hand (by accident) in 2nd grade. I’m now 53 and I still have a very faint blueish mark on the palm of my hand. It took decades for it to fade away.

My uncle was stabbed with a pencil in the leg in elementary school. Still there at age 80. No harm otherwise. It is a great story to tell.

I threw pencil af my sister’s head decades ago. The mark is still there.

I would not do a plastic surgeon! But if op is so off the deep end that she wants to cut out a chunk of her kid's skin with nail clippers (!!!) then she clearly feels like she needs to do something. Might as well give her an alternative idea.
