After having a front loader, we went back to a basic Maytag with an agitator. It cleans really well. In case you want an alternative…

OP. For future shoppers, here's how Speed Queen customer service responded to my inquiry about the washing machine that would be most similar to my 2016 model:

"You likely had the AWNE92 model washer, which was discontinued at the end of 2017 due to new regulations on washers that came into effect in 2018. The TC5 unit is the closest current model that replicates the wash action of your older washer. While it washes the same, it won't have all the features and options of your previous model, as it uses knobs and dials. For a model with the same features and options as the AWNE92, consider the TR7 unit. However, please note that it will not wash in the same manner as your original washer.

The difference between the TC5 and TR series of washers.

The TC5 classic style unit is a traditional washer featuring a rotating agitator. This rotation uses friction, created as clothes rub against each other in water, to effectively clean garments. As a result, the TC5 is highly effective at removing surface dirt. In contrast, the TR units represent a new style of washer. The agitator in these models is fixed, while the outer tub rotates. This washing action relies on water moving back and forth through the clothes, providing a gentler clean and potentially extending the longevity of your clothing. We recommend choosing the unit that best suits your lifestyle."

I did this and it was the worst mistake I ever made. My commercial maytag cleaned great. Used plenty of water. However, in less than 5 years the door lock mechanism has rusted twice, I've had to change the circuit board twice and the entire machine rusted. I contacted maytag and they covered the first circuit board but it took months to arrive. I gave up when something happened to the motor ans maytag told me about their warranty and basically confirmed they don't stand by their product. I bought the appliances in 2019 by 2023 my washer was replaced I finally used the warranty services through my credit card company and they gave me money towards a new machine. I will never buy a maytag product again.

Buy the speedqueen you wont regret it.

I recently researched this and decided on the TC5. It's not going to be noticeably harder on clothes, but it does seem to clean better. Our current machine is an Electrolux and it's been great, but the cycles are so long, and I don't want to hace to worry about leaving the door open.

Yes, I think the TR7 has the same cleaning technology as the TR5 so that's great to hear that it has been working well for your parents.

I think that would have been my hill to die on. I told DH those machines are coming with us to our retirement house.

Do movers "move" appliances? Honest question, no snark intended. I would love to take my fridge and washer and dryer to my next home.

Yes, movers will move appliances. We moved our brand new washer and dryer to our current house from our starter home and replaced them with the older ones that were in the home we bought. We just needed to disclose to the buyers that those appliances weren’t conveying.

Yes, but if it is in your listing photos and attaches to the wall, it stays unless you say otherwise in writing.
