Here's what we know
• Colorado attack: A man used a flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to set people on fire Sunday at a Jewish community event in Boulder, Colorado, held in support of hostages in Gaza. He injured at least eight people ranging in age from 52 to 88 — including a Holocaust survivor — before being detained.

• Suspect identified: The FBI identified the lone suspect as Mohamed Sabry Soliman and said he yelled “Free Palestine!” during the attack. He faces multiple felony charges and is expected to appear in court later this afternoon.

• Suspect’s history: Soliman had applied for asylum in the US and was denied a visa to enter the country in 2005, sources told CNN. He was in the US illegally, a Homeland Security official said today. The suspect entered the US in August 2022 as a non-immigrant visitor and was granted a two-year work authorization in March 2023. That visa expired earlier this year.

• Community outcry: Jewish leaders called for action against attacks on their community in the wake of rising antisemitic violence and threats. Less than two weeks ago, two Israeli Embassy staff members were shot dead in Washington, DC, by an attacker who yelled “Free Palestine!” while being arrested.

Wish they would have gotten this guy before he took his homemade flame thrower and burned a bunch of innocent people.

The trump administration is going to blame every crime (except the ones they area committing) on someone here illegally. this is an ongoing lie campagin to get people to allow for martial law and the suspension of elections in 2026 and thereafter. Book it.

Speaking of low-hanging fruit, now ICE is detaining young children who accompanied their parents to immigration court--and putting zip ties on them.

"The children — two boys and a girl who appeared to be between the ages of 9 and 12 years old — were detained and zip-tied, along with adults who appeared to be relatives, after an immigration judge had dismissed their case, according to Carolina Rivera, an immigration attorney who serves as a federal advocate and liaison for CLINIC. That dismissal should have meant they were no longer subject to removal proceedings, Rivera said."

Note that they’re arresting “lazy, free loader” and “criminal” immigrants their JOB SITES and their mandatory immigration court appearances.

They’re terrorizing people for show. People who are working, paying taxes, and following the rules.

The bigger question is why isn’t the government going after major businesses that employ undocumented immigrants?

You don't get work authorization for a visitor visa. If you overstay a visa and file for asylum then DHS will say you are here illegally but they won't deport you until your asylum claim is heard. You also get work authorization after applying for asylum.

I'm sure the Colorado authorities were watching this guy just as carefully as they were watching that bakery owner who refused to make that wedding cake.

Soliman's daughter just graduated high school as class of 2025 and has been accepted to both the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Colorado University in Denver.
