My cleanest upholstery is a glider chair with a perennials (same as Sunbrella) slipcover. I put the whole thing in the wash and it goes back on perfectly. It’s from RH and they said not to wash it, but I’ve had no problems thankfully. I looked at it carefully to make sure there wasn’t interfacing or something that might get messed up in the washer.

Puke, breastmilk, markers - that chair has seen it all and it looks brand new.

Nope. White cotton slipcovers for the win. Throw them in the wash with bleach occasionally and they look brand new (we’re ten years in).

I would never buy a leather sofa - they're uncomfortable and more likely to develop a tear, crack, or stain and you can't get those out.

It seems to have worked out just fine for OP.

I think the better rule is to buy something where the covers zip off, so you can easily clean them. We have thrown our Room & Board Metro covers in the wash several times despite being told we should not. I hate the sofa, but the fabric washes just fine.
