Montreal was perfect for our family last July. It's not guaranteed to be "cooler", but the weather was quite pleasant during our 5 day trip. Can't beat how close it is as well.
My family really enjoyed a combo Montreal and Quebec summer vacation years ago.
A highlight in Montreal was Cirque du Soleil's Big Top show.
We saw Luzia many years ago and just loved it. It is back in summer 2025. Highly recommend it!
