The county secondary math lead sent a request to all math teachers asking for input on pacing/structure for their course “in the event we do not adopt a basal resource as expected.”

Recommendations from the committee were sent to Reid in March, but she didn’t like them. Nothing has been approved, and this late in the game it is nearly impossible to have everything ready to go by fall.

But how do you know she didn't like them? I got the same email about pacing input.

I watched the school board budget work session and Reid indicated that she thought that secondary math wasn't up for adoption for another year and seemed confused, rather than not happy with the options.

And if she doesn't like the options, what else is there?

Wait, what? The school district superintendent didn't know the timeline for new curriculum adoption? I mean we all know she's in way over her head, but that's next level.

So glad we switched to a private school where my kids have textbooks and bring home their homework workbooks every day for math!

Oh stop. If you’re a long time math teacher in FCPS, you know other people who used to be math teachers and now work in gatehouse. You get together for happy hours with former colleagues or go out to lunch after county wide inservice meetings, and you gossip. There is so much gossip.

Our in service training for August was supposed to be on these new resources, but the latest communication from department chairs is that it won’t be happening and will be school based instead.

Pp who asked the question about source - I also know people at the "math central office". It's true - they are real people and I actually do know them, just haven't seen/chatted recently.
