Your point doesn’t work when they’re the oppressive class. Try “crazy eyed Nazis”, “crazy eyed kkk”, “crazy eyed maga”, “crazy eyed duke lacrosse players”. It’s not offensive. No such thing as reverse racism against the oppressor.

Interesting. DC is at one of those and I haven’t heard about it. DC is agnostic though, and very liberal. I wonder how popular it is? Most of those schools lean liberal.

We’re at one of those schools. Focus is only popular w/ the group of kids that goes to church regularly and would be in something like that outside of school anyways. It definitely doesn’t lure anyone away.

• Examples: Christian nationalism, anti-LGBTQ+ laws, book bans, and abortion policy are all rooted in specific readings of scripture.
• Even avoiding politics is a political choice. Neutrality in the face of injustice benefits the powerful.

It may be a rich kid thing but the camp at MV is less than $1300 for a week. As far as sleepaway camps go, it’s a bargain.


As far as Christian camps go it's not though. Church camps are almost always under $1K and some are under $500 for a week.

It may be a rich kid thing but the camp at MV is less than $1300 for a week. As far as sleepaway camps go, it’s a bargain.

It’s not political, just bible study. At the two single sex private schools my kids attend (not in DC), Focus is one of the most racially diverse clubs at the school — also has athletes, theatre kids, geeky kids, etc. . ,

We are super liberal, as anti-MAGA as you can get and my kid goes to FOCUS.

It's just a bible study and/or worship with food--very low key. No political ideology is taught whatsoever. I don't know what campus your kid is on (my kids are no longer in middle school) but that has been our experience. I am completely not worried about it and although I am religious, I am really sensitive to any insertion of politics into church, religious groups, etc. I won't attend a church if it does this.
