I guess we never met.

Anyone know what caused the huge increase in average GPA? I thought maybe it was because of distance learning but the increase seems to be persisting?
Uva is showing the same post-covid inflation as William and Mary. WM is slightly higher (3.6)based on numbers they release to greek organizations comparing greek and overall. Ivies range from 3.65-3.85 avg these days.
More companies are beginning to scrutinize the courses taken and some ask for SAT. The top ones already preferred ivy+ so uva needs to keep gpa inflation approaching top schools to continue to be right under top targets. Vanderbilt does the same.
UVA Spring 2024 was 3.59. 1991 was 3.09.
Meh. Duke was 3.3 in 1991 when i graduated and DH at hopkins says the median was 3.1-3.2 there around the same time. We have one child currently attending Duke and know a workmate’s student at Hopkins: 3.8 and 3.7 averages respectively. UVA ‘s inflation is consistent with others no big deal.

Overall, study time has gone down as grades have gone up.

It is not unique to UVA and students are not getting stronger. Rather schools and professors don’t want to have to deal with the backlash of giving a snowflake a “C”.
Yep. NoVA parents are the worst.

The average GPA at Brown is about 3.85. Any elite school that isn't in that ballpark risks falling out of favor because prospects don't want to spend that kind of money to not get the results they expect. Schools like UVA follow suit.
I thought brown didn’t have grades or compute GPA.
Omfg. People are so misinformed about Brown. Yes- they have letter grades and no wiggle room- no pluses or minuses. An 89.9 is a B on your transcript. Someone posts a fake ChatGPT. You can take something out of your concentration/major you are interested in as a p/f but it’s an addition to all of your grade required core. They are handing out less and less As in very recent years.
Two kids there now.
