I do, and we are UMC, and yes, money is a driver if not the main driver for the vast majority of families. MOST families can't pay $90k/year for college.

+1. Also the vast majority of high school kids are at a public high school, not a private one.

Because in the eyes of the general public, employers and potential grad/professional school admissions committees, there's not a lick of difference between the two. Except price.

UVA has Some famous clubs that recruit well and it’s open to non mcintire students. I would pick it over Georgetown any day. Plus there mba and law schools are the best among the. Public’s.

My dc same situation accepted both including many guaranteed business programs. The usual suspects but picked uva because if it’s recruitment among Wall Street firms and its. Clubs. Was not worrried about McIntyre because non McIntyre recruited very well too because of the clubs. Money was not a factor seven though we are instate va and had a well funded 529. Plus dc is confident with 50% acceptance into McIntyre is confident can crack it.

The difference between UVA and Georgetown over 4 years is about $200,000.

Is McDonough really worth that much more than McIntire? Both degrees confer Scottish names on the diploma. So therefore equal.

University of Virginia if in-state tuition.

My kid liked georgetown msb and didnt like uva. I would only choose uva if we had in state tuition AND if kid had a clear non-business major they'd be happy to pursue (bc uva business is not guaranteed). We are not virginia residents so i have an issue paying 90k private school tuition rates for a flagship - without any assurance that my kid could study what they want. For our family, we would choose georgetown msb.

I went to both, uva for undergrad and Georgetown for mba. They are very different price points, sizes, and vibes. Both are considered prestigious schools though.

If you don’t get into McIntire, you could major in economics in the UVA college and be just fine.

Neither one is a “crazy” choice, as long as you can afford Georgetown at $92k a year full pay.
