There is nothing to walk to in Crestwood nor is it convenient to transit.

DTF is your answer: Downtown Frederick City - if no commute, of course.

Liberal, walkable, intellectual (Hood College right there) and Baker Park something straight Olmsted. Fine schools too!

No issue. I messed up and thought they were a 25 minute walk apart.

Thank you! I did not know that. On Google Maps I think I accidentally chose "Piney Branch Road" instead of "Piney Branch Elementary" so I thought the two schools were a 25 minute walk apart.

Very glad you mentioned this and cleared up my misperception -- thanks!

If Arlington feels too wealthy, University park might be good. It’s a lovely neighborhood with a lot of walkable amenities, including a Whole Foods, a Trader Joe’s, and a call your mother. But it’s more diverse/a little grittier than NW. Commute would be a big factor for me, if you’re using transit or not and which downtown neighborhood you are going to makes a big difference.

And, AI responded to my question by recommending, roughly in order, Chevy Chase, Cleveland Park, Friendship Heights/Tenleytown, Takoma DC, and Petworth. Is it right?

If Arlington (all parts of it? Really?) feel too wealthy for your husband, Chevy Chase and NW are not going to be better.

This house is two blocks from Whittier which has an amazing principal and can't speak to 4th yet but great K teachers. It's easily walkable to TKPK, the metro, the playground, and it's in price range. Honestly I have no idea why people are recommending Cleveland Park which is not at all TKPK like. It's a great neighborhood but very different and much more expensive.

Yes came to suggest University Park, MD - it’s a leafy, walkable suburb with an easy commute to DC. The elementary school is totally fine if you don’t care about middle schools and central to town so a quick walk from virtually anywhere in the neighborhood.
