It was PPA and another club but I didn't catch which team; not my kid's game but I saw it happen while waiting for my kid to play. They looked to be high school - probably U16 or U17. I was shocked that despite all of the signs saying that failure to respect coaches, players, and refs would result in you being asked to leave, no one was asked to leave and the game continued (players had to leave the field but they were still on the sidelines). I thought they should have either ended the game or at least asked parents to leave since they seemed to escalate the conflict. Some parents were yelling at players on the opposing team. We've all seen heated games but this was among the worst I've witnessed.

Depends on the tournament, local, yes, try to win. Tournament with lots of travel and hotel stay, still think it’s best to go with rotation and equal time.

I'd say the reverse, if the team is traveling far, they should put at least 50% emphasis on winning. If it means the "less talented" players play a bit less, oh well... by that, I don't mean bench and let them in for 5 minutes, but not equal time, maybe 65% of equal time? I don't know, I just feel that a tournament is exactly where winning counts more... the regular games can absolutely be used as practice to work on skills.

BSC's success at the older ages is particularly impressive because a lot of their top U-little players have left for DCU and other MLS academies.

As a PP points out, BSC does well at the older ages so not sure why all the judging bc they’re focusing on development at the younger years.
Isnt that how you get them to be as good as they are when they get older?

There are plenty of MLSNext teams in the area that prioritizing winning over anything else so BSC players have options if BSC is no longer good for them. Plenty of kids willing to take their place.

That explains why their Q of P score is low relative to their win-lose record. Because of the changing roster, there probably isn’t enough linkups to affect Q of P even if they have very good individual players.

This may be right idk. The team has some very strong players but it is hard to get a flow and then have an abrupt shift or people changing so frequently in positions. The theory is great and I think most parents support the theory, but wonder if the implementation is too rigid.

The kids that can’t make it onto Bethesda’s MLS Next team go to Achilles, Alexandria, the VA teams. That means the other teams get their castoffs.

Isn’t that more important at that age? Bethesda prides itself on rotating and developing up until U15 which is correct.
Who is the 2012 coach BTW? Who is this unicorn who cares more about PLAYER DEVELOPMENT than walking away with a plastic medal? Want to keep my eye on him!!
