What on earth is she cooking that she waits hours after guests arrive to begin?

Why would the burgers necessarily be frozen?

Because she is waiting until everyone arrives to start cooking.

You…put frozen burgers on the grill? I have never done this.

Does she serve some amazing Michelin starred food once she finally cooks? Otherwise why do people keep coming back?

Trust me, you would be fine.

Dinner 3 hours late for a 5 year old is a big deal. No, my European family wouldn't pull this stunt.

DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince call it a barbecue so that’s good enough for me.

Just go to Mission BBQ or other place and gorge on ribs beforehand, then just go to their BBQ and get drunk and drop a hot dog into the grill

The term is used two ways. Barbecue is a type of food/cooking technique like shredded bbq pork. some people call all cookouts a barbecue. So they may host a barbecue but not serve anything traditional bbbq only hot dogs & hamburgers.

I use bbq as the food and cookout as the event.

Um, OK? So don’t accept their invitations. “Problem” solved. All it would take is for this to happen twice so I know it wasn’t a fluke, it’s their M.O., I wouldn’t attend their gatherings.

Don't go.

She’s incredibly rude and weird. If the BBQ starts at X time, people expect to eat food at X+45 minutes or so, with a few appetizers ready upon arrival. Making everyone wait for late arrivals is very rude.

I always eat before I go anywhere, and I certainly feed my kids. One never knows when/if food will appear and if it’s edible.

I also had deja vu! I just thought it's a lot of unfortunate people going through this. Not just one idiot who keeps attending a horrible event.
