I am continually shocked by how much PTO some people are able to take over the summer.

We spend the entire summer (4 months) in France and Italy.

In this economy, zero.

We take either 2 or 3 weeks depending on the summer. Cheap by DCUM standards: a week cabin camping, OBX with friends, pacific NW staying with family. If either of us don’t have the PTO we’ll work remote a few days while away.

10 days in Europe, week with my dad, ILs visiting us for 2 weeks. I do not take PTO for in law visit now my kids are older. DH is a prof and can work on his research anywhere he can carry boring books.

My husband's busy time is always spring break so he can never take time off then, his boss makes sure they both get a week+ off in summer. He gets 3 weeks total vacation.

My husband is a partner in a law firm. He does not have to track or report PTO. Trust me, he’s working every vacation. No need to be jealous.

We are doing a 10 day trip to UK/France and a weeklong cruise with my in-laws. He will work at least some during both trips, I’m sure.

I work for a school system, so I am off in the summer. I plan a variety of summer trips, some shorter and some longer with and without my kids.

I would ideally like to take 2 weeks off of work. Usually one, one week trip and maybe a long weekend somewhere.

This summer had a significant curveball as one of my in laws just received a terminal diagnosis so we're going to be spending extra time giving them the best last summer they can have.

1 family vacation about 10-11 days long. 1 3 or 4 day weekend trip. Usually one of the 2 is visiting my in laws

Usually 3-4 (I’m a teacher)
Kid and mom visit family out west for 2 weeks (dad joins every 3-4 years)
Weeklong family vacation
Long weekend somewhere
Beach at family condo for a couple nights

The kids and I drive to visit family for a week (I SAHM… spouse might join for a couple of days). We often take a trip somewhere else for a week as well.

We do 2 weeks usually. One summer we did a week at the beginning and one at the end and that was nice. This year it's 2 weeks in August. But we do multiple winter trips- skiing and spring break.

We do a two or three week trip every summer, and I might also do a short trip to London to see family.

If we do it, one 10-11 day trip and probably 2-3 weekend trips. Get 5 weeks vacation so that's not the limiting factor, there are just other logistical concerns to be worked out.
