I was not raised in a family like that but I see from comments that many people were.
I have a colleague who mentioned her teenage daughters do come in the bathroom and talk while she uses the bathroom. This was a few years ago and I remember that shocked me.

I look back and wonder if I did this to my mom.
My daughter will want to come in to say goodnight, or get nail polish remover, etc. I have been locking the door and saying no.
My son has one friend who is a good guy and we are happy to have him over, but he will continue a conversation when he goes into the powder room!!!! Makes me laugh!
She died a few years ago and I really miss her.
