This is VERY atypical behaviour. I grew up in Europe and no. one. I know ever did anything remotely like this. Can you not wait for an answer? Respect people's privacy? So entitled.

And I think it is gross and reflects my mother’s unhealthy lack of boundaries. It was always uncomfortable for me.

Same, and the bathroom had a pocket door with no lock. I'm not sure my mom ever closed it & I don't know if I ever took a shower without someone else in that bathroom unless it was at an unusual time of day. I'm a little more private than my mom (I close the bathroom door when I use it) but my kids and pets have no respect for that privacy.

If the door is closed, you don't bother the person who closed the door. Maybe if my dad was shaving or my mom was putting on makeup they'd have the door open and I'd hang in the doorway chatting with them. But we all closed the door for anything toilet or shower related. Always.

Disgusting.

My son has one friend who is a good guy and we are happy to have him over, but he will continue a conversation when he goes into the powder room!!!! Makes me laugh!

This made me smile. My dog followed me to the bathroom to get pet too. Only with me though She died a few years ago and I really miss her.

There's a sort of tacit agreement in my family, and when I was growing up, that you don't go up close to someone using the bathroom unless they need your help. And if they do need your help, then of course you come in to help, and no one minds that people are naked or there's vomit or diarrhea or a menstruation explosion that needs to be cleaned up. All these things have happened!
