How do we know if we get banned? Recently I couldn’t access the site for about a day (maybe 2). I thought it was down. When I did get access back I saw nobody talking about it, I even mentioned it in a post I was responding to, and still nobody said anything. Now I’m wondering if I was banned.

I couldn't quickly tell what caused the block but I unblocked your IP.

It's happened yet again this morning 8am 6/21 ip 69.250.249.18. Typed out a lengthy thoughtful response and am now blocked, no idea why.

I initially read this as autobahn and thought, “overzealous autobahn” is redundant. Then was confused why it was on the website feedback forum.

Same…

+1 😀

This is really interesting. I am actually on a research team interested in examining the environmental impacts of PFAS, and specifically AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam), within the context of the toxic legacies of military bases. There are so many keywords that we can’t use in NSF applications now, and the “r word” is one in another context.

We are studying specifically the NORAD Command centres from a transnational lens. We (Canadians) were using the US guidelines for PFAS levels in our work with colleagues in the US. Now these guidelines are being blown out of the water.

It's frustrating to type out a long thoughtful response and get the 24 hour autoban. Maybe if you posted more details about the types of things on the block list? Or give an opportunity to review, edit and repost? It's often inscrutable...

Unfortunately, I am in a constant battle with bad actors. If I provide them information about what I am blocking, it simply makes it easier for them to get around it.

The IP address of your last post doesn't appear to be banned. So maybe your address changed.
