I go out of my way to make driving more frustrating for Land Rover owners.

Only thing worse is the Defender. These off roading cars driving around the beltway and never going off road once.

As others have said,

Looks nice and interior is premium quality.

Mechanically crappy. Tons of maintenance.

We had one about 6 years ago. Never again.

I would like to have a vintage RR or LR that I could drive for fun and not as a daily driver. Cheap to buy and expensive to maintain, but could maintain at my own pace with another daily driver. I would not spend all that money on a new one, but at least it would be under warranty. I would not be likely to buy any car new, though. YMMV

But I do not recommend. Was expensive to maintain and it was noisy inside. I didn't like the ride, as a passenger. Spent more time getting fixed than it should have. Poor gas mileage.

My husband drove it usually and mostly liked it, but we were not sad to sell it

A Range Rover is a "Land Rover," as it's made by LR. A Land Rover model like a Defender or Discovery is not a Range Rover, though. OP didn't specify.

To me, some models have more pros than others. This is kind of like asking, "General Motors pros and cons?"

Side note, I noticed recently that NYC has a lot of full-sized range rovers per capita...not sure why.

Very unreliable!

Maybe look at the Ineos Grenadier, which is a modernized clone of the classic Land Rover 110?

We’ve had our most recent one since 2017 and are just keeping it for our teen drivers bc it’s a safe tank and at this point wouldn’t get much for resale. I like how stiff they are to drive, and they hold 7 without being huge or difficult to park. For downside, unless you get a Range Rover, they’re not as fancy as some cars as far as the electronics and interface for navigation, etc. I do often just use car play for Waze.

Do you have LR4 or Discovery?

If looking at LR Defender, also look at Lexus GX 550, Ford Bronco, Toyota Land Cruiser, Jeep for comparison.

Don't. Shit vehicle from Tata, the Indian conglomerate. If you are determined to go with an Indian car, I'd suggest the Maruti Suzuki - much more reliable.

Mine was manufactured in UK. I wonder if India has better quality control?

If you want to drive a Land Rover, buy two. 😉

What Land Rover are you thinking of getting? New? Some of this depends on the model.

Pros: Ride height and position, as the above poster stated, a "stiff," solid ride. Air suspension (also a liability if it goes wrong), unique looks (debatable -- the vintage ones look better, IMO), terrain response system, cameras, 4WD, adjustable ride height (can come in handy if it's working).

Cons (speaking for myself only): Premium gas, uses a lot of gas, repairs and maintenance are costly (and I take my older LR to a smaller independent shop). For example, I just spent about double for brakes than I would have spent for a different car. I won't talk about the other repairs bc they may not be relevant to the model you are getting. The feeling that you can't just go anywhere for oil changes or repairs (like brakes) bc they might screw it up even worse if not experienced with LR. Similarly, the feeling that you don't want to take it on a road trip in case something were to go wrong and you're not near a LR mechanic.
