The 250th birthday of the US Army seems like a big deal to a lot of people and many are glad it is being appropriately recognized. There are actually almost 3 weeks of events with the parade being just one event.

So with a 15% hotel tax, 10% meals tax, 18% parking garage tax, and thousands of extra riders on Metro this seems like a great opportunity to fill the city during a low tourism month. Plus, with the Nats in town that has to mean a few thousand additional ticket sales. Seems like a financial win, no?
