The fee schedule presented there is just to pay admin costs . No one is getting trash pickup for $12/year.

As someone who has lived in both counties and currently in Fairfax has a private trash company while watching multiple trucks from multiple companies drive on our street almost every day of the week, it seems like a reasonable idea to me. They should figure out how do it quickly though instead of in a decade.

Other than the overhead of Fairfax County doing the contracting for you and the lack of accountability by adding a layer of indirection between you and the contractor.

McKay fixed American Disposal when they were missing pickups. So yeah, I do think that Fairfax County is capable of ensuring trash is picked up.
