Excused absence is the equitable solution, closing a school system for a day is not.
Anonymous wrote:They better not close. They just sent me a reminder yesterday about the 8th grade field trip that day ans I paid $50 for it.

What school does your kid go to? My kid will be done with all finals and all real substance by end of the previous week.

Most likely, there is a separation of church and state issue with this one, as changing the calendar 2-3 weeks out is being done purely for religious reasons. Someone is going to sue (and win) over this one.

It isn't changing. Have you seen or heard anything from FCPS on this date that would suggest otherwise?
OP was speculating. FCPS has changed its calendar in the past for the apparently unpredictable Muslim holidays. It's not unlikely they would do it again.
Anonymous wrote:It is absolutely insane that this is even a question the calendar is made. We cannot be changing it on a whim for the moon.
Anonymous wrote:I would bet good money that it will be closed. FCPS did not schedule any graduations on this day since it was a possiblity.
We have a five (5) day weekend next Memorial Day for this holiday. Of course they will close.
