Be thankful your kid is graduating for gods sake .

You want fanfare make them a party it’s not the schools job to do that it was their job to educate your kid.

We all rotate. Some years your school gets a Saturday afternoon or morning and some years you get a Wednesday night. There’s only so many venues that these high schools can all use in June. It is what it is.

All the schools have a rotating list, regardless of venue. Constitution Hall does it this way too. It's the only fair way to do it, OP.

One of my kids had the early morning slot and it was SO bad. Way too hectic and chaotic. We much prefer later in the day, and even 7pm would be better.

I’m not getting it. Why is 7 pm so bad? Is it because you can’t celebrate with dinner right after the ceremony?

High school graduations are tedious in the extreme. I’m kind of hoping my kids don’t want to attend theirs!

FCPS does a rotating schedule for graduations at the Patriot Center.

They have morning, afternoon and evening slots.

Before covid, the schools go one slot later than they the previous year.

When they get to the last slot, the next year the school is the first slot.

Rinse.

Repeat.

It seems like since Dr. Reid, instead of moving one slot down the list, the schools are moving one day down the list on a different time than the previous year.

Your high school made it to the bottom of the list. Congratulations. Next year it will be one of the first graduations.

The pre-covid system was better, in my opinion, because if you knew which spot your school was in last year, you could calculate the graduation date years in advance based on the school calendar.

Not in this district but my dc’s graduation is at 8pm. What is wrong with 7?

Yes! My favorite and preferable to early a.m. graduation at DAR Constitution Hall!

OP, there is nothing stopping you from putting on the "fanfare" for your child if it's really that important to you and him. While he can't wear 200 cords or medals into the ceremony itself, you can order them and have a professional photoshoot done with your kid wearing all his flair, surrounded by thousand balloons and cheering squad. Just know he can't wear all that stuff into the ceremony.

They can wear the ones sanctioned by the school and rightfully earned.

If the OP wants lots of fanfare, they can order all kinds of random ones for their own private party. No kid has actually earned 200 cords and medals, so that was quite obviously hyperbolic.
