My own kid's preference at that age was the National Portrait Gallery. It's history, yes, but often the most interesting part of history for non-history buffs is what people looked like.

This - I have loved this every time...

My teen enjoyed the (free) small museum at the Bank of London. It was quite interesting and had interesting exhibits. It didn’t take very long and was a great way to spend less than an hour if you’re in the area. We were staying nearby.

I would do V&A if you like the special exhibits on show. Last time I was there I really enjoyed an exhibit on men's fashion.

However, two Londonwalks walking tours or a play at the Globe Theater might be more fun.

We went to natural history and found it kind of a snooze. The building itself is gorgeous but it’s not as nice as the ones we have in the US.

Do something more interactive instead. The London Dungeons or the Gunpowder Plot are historical and great fun.

Just posted, but also not sure if you are considering Tower of London. It’s a museum and architecture and history.

National gallery or, when given a choice for something At least somewhat cultural, my teen DD chose Kew Gardens.
