Definitely don't have this at youth baseball and hockey in my southern city. Lots of cheering. There's a few parents in baseball who are always trying to coach their kid from the stands, but nothing incredibly egregious.

I've heard of Silent Sideline for a single game for the players to develop confidence and cheering each other on. Not heard of it as an entire season.

The occasional Silent Saturday is awesome for coaches and players alike to escape from the screaming sideline parents. For those who cheer for their kid and others on the team, you were doing the job right, and need to live with the result of the screaming parents and coaches

We have a team like this in the DMV. It’s not because of a rule, it’s a season with a bunch of awkward parents and no team spirit. We play teams that have a sideline full of cheering families. It’s been a bad season and not good for the players. Parents shouldn’t be yelling negative comments but silence is not good either.
