We always go to Pawleys. Quiet, not crowded. Lovely.

What about Oak Island? You can take a day excursion and go do a few putt putts at Myrtle beach, plus there is the Fort Fisher ferry, Aquarium, and Southport.

Don't do Myrtle proper. As others pointed out, go a little further south to Surfside, Murrells Inlet, or Pawleys. There are not a lot of hotels, so you have to go with a local property management company (example: https://www.gardencityrealty.com/).

The Grand Strand has great beaches. Myrtle is not great, but the rest of the area is.

Can you stay at Holden beach and just visit?
Meet up at calabash for seafood dinner?

We went a couple of years ago and really enjoyed Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the Marriott Grande Dunes.

Another option is surf side. It’s about 10 - 15 mins south of Myrtle beach. I’m not sure about restaurants in that area as in if you can walk to them. Also check out ocean lakes. It’s a camp ground seems like a lot of fun. I have never been though.

Also crime there has ticketed up quite a bit.

We stopped there last August because we had a wedding near there. We hadn’t been in years . The whole area is just gross.

The embassy Suites just did a huge renovation a few years back and it’s basically crime city. Two rooms on our floor were robbed the nights we were there, The fancy Marriot property cars were broken into.

It’s a dump now,

+1. I haven't been in 30 years, but an old friend we used to vacation with said she stopped for a weekend while passing through SC and the area was nearly unrecognizable (crime, rundown, etc). And this is coming from a person I consider able to roll with things.

Do what you can to move this rendezvous to Hilton Head.
