Meanwhile, B-CC had a public safety town hall convened by Councilmember Friedson and attended by 100 parents/community members and MCPS Chief of Schools Peter Moran and Chief Safety Officer Marcus Jones.
The responses from the system and community were miles apart. And it's due to MCPS knowing that Wheaton and most other D-CC schools don't have the engaged and active parent communities that will demand accountability from them.
Friedson is expected to run for county executive. It was strategic campaign move for him to convene the town hall. Wheaton's council member Natalie Fani-Gonzalez could have hosted something similar, but she's not running for CE, so less of a need.
To be fair, she did convene a Public Safety Town Hall, where many D-CC parents and students showed up and discussed school safety issues and concerns:
