You can take Pimsleur out of the Arlington library using the Libby app. A library card is your friend.

Libraries have lots of free language tools (lile mango, which i think is better than duolingo)

Destinos is a telenovela that was designed to be used in teaching high school spanish— you can find the episodes online (and the textbooks from used book sites if you want).

Duolingo is $120 a year for the paid version, which isn't bad at all of you would actually use it.

look up 500 most used Spanish words
100 most used phrases
words that are the same in English
words that are almost the same in English
Think in Spanish. You see a green car, say it in Spanish in your head. Double check with Siri/Alexa/google translate
Duolingo
Watch Spanish cartoons or easy shows with subtitles. Many lessons are free online and on youtube. I wouldn't pay for anything quite yet.
You got to know 1000 words to be able to start speaking and thinking in Spanish.
Make up 3-4 word sentences and then add more words to your sentence.

Duo lingo never worked for me. I would take a class at the community college for a year to get vocabulary down and learn how to conjugate verbs. Then find libraries that have conversation meet ups.
