Hear me out...these are just side quests that the real person or persons controlling Trump's puppet strings give him to keep him entertained.
It's like when I'd buy a new Lego set to give my kid on his day off from school when I was WFH. He was excited for new Legos, and it kept him busy and occupied while I was in my meetings. Or a better example, my father has dementia, and my mom is his main caretaker most of the time. Whenever she needs to get something done that requires concentration and no interruptions, like doing their taxes (she's a retired CPA), she gives him a project like testing his pen collection to make sure they still work. He loves "collecting" free pens from everywhere he visits and looking at them and writing with them can keep him busy for hours. Great distraction technique and it keeps his brain busy, too.
