In summer I like to go at dusk if feasible. You don't have to make a full switch, just drop back and switch it up a but. It will probably take a couple weeks to work back up to your winter distance/times, but then it will be fall and that will be fun!

It's SO hot at dusk.

Yeah but I find direct sunlight to be worse than humidity. Plus I like seeing the fireflies for the few weeks they're out, and the street lamps turning on, and it's a nice way to decompress from the work day.

Dawn is a little cooler but my legs are stiff and I have no motivation then. I actually enjoy evening runs.

Whatever works for you!

NP, I love the transition from hot dusk and ending a little cooler, with the frogs and fireflies. Then I go home and have a cold beer on the swing set while I cool off.

How early do you run in the summer?

NP. I go around 5:30 5:45. I aim to be back before the sun is up.

I live on the surface of the sun in the SW so it’s still 90 at that point but 0 humidity

That just seems unsafe.

I don’t live in the hood. Never had an issue and I’ve done this for decades in 3 different areas. Still alive. I see the HS cross country teams most mornings.

It's really not once you get acclimated. In fact it's easier than the 70+ dew points in this area, because your body can actually cool itself down.

I mean running in the dark isn't safe unless it's truly you're only option.

DP. Sunrise is around 6 am in summer.
It’s already brightening up around 5:45. I guess it depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in, but really, I think it’s fine.
