You're judging a college by a Billy Joel song?

Ummm. Duke over Cornell? That’s a no-brainer.

Really curious how OP's kid managed to have two schools as options on May 2. OP -- can you share how you did that?

Lehigh, hands down. I went there and it’s amazing. Everyone I know who went there is doing amazing in their various careers.

There are plenty of fun and nice kids at Cornell. Mine included. And there are cutthroat kids EVERYWHERE. If your kid prefers Lehigh, she should go there. End of story. She will have plenty of opportunities at either school.

Success is about a person and how they use the resources available to them, not the prestige.

Not in the late 80s.

Engineer who seriously looked at both.

Haha this sounds like my sister. She visited Cornell after acceptance and she found the place uptight and socially awkward (bad vibes). She chose a SLAC (full ride merit to lower end of NESCAC rankings) and ended up very successful (T5 STEM PhD). If your kid has the chops, put them in an environment where they will flourish and they find their way/ do well in life.

It’s good to see that some people are considering the full range of the colleges’ characteristics, and don’t allow questionable rankings to run their lives.

If that was a comment from a Cornell person, it's a good argument to attend Lehigh.

some school comparison questions elicit 20 pages of comments - this is one of the good ones, and should be a 20 pager
