I'm the woman who used to date those losers. It's not complicated. I'm fine alone, but the losers won't leave me alone. They have nothing to lose.
It starts as a friendship and then develops for something more. If they didn't do anything crazy, they did get lucky after all the effort.
The better looking/better job guys are all taken. I meet them too, but just for sex.
I'm done dating the 3 out of 10s though, but they are all over the place. It's like you are asking me to ignore them and be mean to them. They fine, but I hadn't missed out on anything if they had ignored me and kept walking. I'm too cute to be ignored: friendly, tall, foreign.

There are many men and women with regular jobs, old cars, poor credit, not overly attractive and many have partners. It isn’t only the pretty and rich who fall in love or who create families.
The cashier at my corner store would be similar to the man you described but she has a husband who loves her regardless of a lack of outward appeal.
