Well done, OP. Prices in this area are nuts.

Op. Bathroom quotes were 32, 37, and 45. Minor differences between them. Separate plumbing quotes were 4,7, and 8. 4 was a licensed master plumber while 8 was a handyman recommendation. Something was off because the master plumbers quote was very generic which I interpreted to mean disagreements on scope of work would arise. Didn’t even ask for detailed quote at that point. It was as straight forward of a job as could be.

On the price front they pretty accurate. I did things to a higher standard. I think. Tub wasn’t a 499 off the shelf. Subfloor was two layers (23/32 plus 1/4) so that combined with thinset then schluter then thinset and tile it all matched level to the threshold and wood floor.

I did get a big box orange store discount on some things as I know a guy but most of the time I don’t use it as I either forget or things like wood, durock, or electrical don’t get much, if any discount. Behr paint and supplies are about 20%off though. I don’t have a hookup on tile or schluter.

We usually pay about 40k per bathroom but ours are also larger.

Well, they probably don’t get the contractor discount, so that would make materials a bit higher.

Op following up on this thread. After meeting with a a couple contractors and a lack of responsiveness and/or timeliness, or quotes for comparable work that were so different we went tackled this ourselves.

Total cost of was around 13-14k in materials.

demo - free labor and haul away

drywall (except ceiling) - $500 (includes rental sander and rental air filter)

New subfloor to include joist supports - $500

minor wall framing support - $200

12ga electrical wire, outlets, switches - $300

fan - $200

5 recessed lights - $100

new vanity light - $200

new plumbing - didn’t track but easily $2k in materials (quotes were 5k and 8k for this alone)

Durock tub/shower area, screws, thinset - $300

Custom two level 40x15 niche with two tiers - $200

vanity 48inches single sink - $1200 (with 40%off)

Vanity mirror - $150

toilet - $300

faucets, shower head, door handle - $500

New fiberglass soaking tub - $1200

paint - $250

baseboard moldings and quarter round - $200

bath/shower tile and supplies - $3250

Floor -porcelain /ceramic and supplies - $1000

Schluter under layment, heated floorcables, and thermostat - $1000

Frameless tub/shower doors - passed for time being

NP here. Anyone have a contractor to recommend? We're in Annandale.

Also, when you calculate all the materials (shower, toilet, vanity, etc.) I would think you can easily get to 10K+++ if going even low to modest end. Kohler is actually fairly pricey.
