My great grandfather married 3 months after my great grandmother died. My grandfather was 13 and apparently the transition was awful.

The much loved minister at my church married within one year of his wife dying of cancer. I was stunned. The new wife is a lovely woman. But I thought 1 year? They didn't even know each other when his wife died, so it wasn't like she was waiting in the wings.

My mom died when my dad was 39. He has not dated, much less married, in the past 30 years.

My MIL died when my FIL was 48. He got remarried at 56.

My grandma died in December '94. By the following spring my grandpa was seriously dating a woman. They maintained their separate residences and never married.

My grandpa (on the other side) died when I was 20. My grandma never dated or remarried.

My mother died in fall 2021. A year later my father asked my brother and me how we felt about him dating. We both gave our blessing, he dated two women, and is now with the second one. They maintain their separate residences and will not be getting married.

This is confusing- isn't your mom's mom your grandma? How did you have three different grandma's and a grandpa die who all left spouses behind?

Yep sounds about right. Men can’t function without a bang maid so they just find a quick replacement.

Men also need more emotional support than women do because women usually have closer friends. It's not just the cooking, etc., which often times they can handle. They need attention.
