If the student wants to study foreign languages, poli sci or Foreign Service, G’town is a no brainer. UVA has an excellent English program.

Both great schools!

Georgetown is trying to move kids off of the hillside to Capitol Hill using special programs. Not sure that arrangement is as desirable - separation from friends, etc.

UVA classic college experience, strong academics.

From our school Georgetown commits are academic strivers, while UVA commits are all-around strong and kind.

And ironically, she would have been around more geographically diverse kids at GU. California has the largest number of students at Gu and there are lots of international students and so many states represented. My kid was turned off from UVa because literally every person we met admitted students day was from Loudoun, Ashburn, Fairfax, etc

Completely depends on the student’s desires now and in the future. We can’t decide for you.

Do they want to be in a city? Pro for Georgetown. Do they want to be in a frat? Pro for UVA. Do they want an internship in politics or policy? Pro for Georgetown. Do they want to be farther from home? Pro for UVA.

We can’t tell you which is best.

Ok, missing key detail of major so will address as part of the response. If IR no question Georgetown. If business again no question go with the direct admit school, Georgetown. For anything else let DC go with the vibe that feels best. If still can’t decide flip a coin, no material prestige difference between these two schools.
