you're not being very nice either.
Haven’t you noticed that there is a contingent of regular posters on this forum who are not actually interested in any sort of dialogue, regardless of how many seemingly innocuous threads they start? Sorry, friend, I am not one to turn the other cheek when someone calls someone else an ass8hole on the Religion forum.
I think it's not just this forum. I think it has to do with talking to strangers on the internet. It's easier to be rude.
As another poster wrote, where was someone being so insulting other than making a factual claim? Sensitive much?

What do you think?
Atheists are often unhappy when religions try to push their rules onto others.
I think unfortunately, indoctrination is a very accurate word to use.
DP. You think that. You are 100% entitled to your opinion. Others may agree.
And I may disagree. Others may agree with me.
So...I'm not sure either opinion is all that useful. But you're welcome to yours.
Indoctrination is not an insult. It is an accurate and factual use of the word.
Indoctrinate means to teach to accept a set of beliefs uncritically = the Catholic Church spent centuries opposing critical analysis: only the church had the authority to interpret scripture (affirmed by Council of Trent); discouraged translating the Bible into vernacular languages, which was often banned in areas; condemned people for trying to create translations; and preyed on the illiteracy of the masses by controlling through sermons and teachings what the Bible was supposed to mean.
There are plenty of modern evangelical churches that still attempt to push their congregations into unquestioning belief.
Only someone being disingenuous would deny that many people on this forum, incl the PP above, use “indoctrination” perjoratively.
Some religions demand uncritical acceptance. Others don’t.
Many believe “an unexamined faith is not worth having.”

Same reason some non-religious people dislike religious people. See post at 8:13.
Sounds like it is not related to being religious or not.
