No, that would be super weird.
But we used to live in an 800 sq ft apartment with 2 kids and still hosted playdates. Mostly we just met up at a playground, though.

It sounds like OP is trying to force their hand with a creative solution (the PP with that wording on P1 was perfect). I would propose it but I like to push back on cheeky users.

We had 5 of us in 1300 sq feet, 2 bedrooms. So, no sleepovers but we hosted play dates.

The issue is that the kids who are used to bigger spaces don’t know how to be in a smaller one, e.g. put away things immediately if you are not playing with them anymore, keep your stuff together and don’t spread out, furniture is not a part of a play set. It’s very stressful to host those “free spirits”.

If my home were too small to comfortably host, I would do play dates at a park or someplace else. Since they do not do that I would assume they just are not interested in hosting. Invite them when it works for your family but do not expect a return offer.

Owners of small place: How old are the kids? Just put out some toys. You don’t need a ton of space. Or invite them outside.

Op—no you don’t ask someone to babysit your kids in your house. That’s weird. Suck it up, life isn’t always equal.

So they are taking advantage of you by never hosting? Do you always have their kid?

You have to weigh the benefits for your kid. If the cons outweigh the pros change the relationship.

Just suggest meet ups at parks if you don't like always hosting. The parents have to stay and watch their own kid.
