I agree with this and I think silver is more neutral, even if satin nickel is dates. Default metal color is grey or silver. The eye and the mind doesn't catch on that color.

It's a pain to rehang doors. The hinges will probably never change.

I loathe brass hardware on interiors. I think black door hardware only suitable IF your windows are highly visible at the same time you are looking at the door. Like in a big open living room.

Choose the one you like better, so you don’t feel that you need to refresh the house in 15 years. Please.

I’d go on Pinterest and just start looking at interiors. Eventually, you’ll see an image that you love and fits with your aesthetic. Copy that.

I’d definitely go with a brushed / satin finish. Black already looks so dated and has such a strong presence in rooms. Ideally you want your door handles to blend in and be appreciated for their function and subtle style. I used Emtek handles (about $200/door) in a brushed / satin nickel for my McLean build and it looks lovely. I was worried because some of my sconces and lighting is brushed gold or black but it doesn’t clash like I thought it would because the hardware is so subtle.

Unlacquered brass (probably not an option unless you can pay to upgrade) or polished nickel. Everything else is too trendy and/or cheap looking

I still like brushed nickel or dark brass. I am not a fan of the black and white “panda house” lool
