I would throw it in an apartment dumpster but not a neighborhood park. Stinking up the park and attracting critters to your food waste is just not a good neighbor.

Not as disgusting as the woman I saw who walked into McDonald’s with her dog, threw her dogs poop into the McDonald’s trashcan and walked right back out.

How often is your trash collection? Ours is twice a week and I'd just put it in my own trash. Don't you ever throw out trash not picked up the same day? I do think it's a little rude to bring personal trash (beyond a couple wrappers from a car trip) to a public park.

I've only ever had once-weekly trash pickup, but my trash has always been picked up by the municipality vs. a private company.

Where in NOVA do you live? Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William all have solid waste centers where residents can drop things off. Falls Church residents are allowed to use Fairfax’s facilities.

Montgomery County. It's usually called a "transfer station" now, but it looks like maybe not all the Northern Virginia counties/municipalities have them?

I think the OP’s idea of using “if everyone did what I’m about to do, would it be ok?” As a metric is a good one.
