I’ve probably saved about $8-$10,000 in the last decade on doing much of my own maintenance. YouTube University, baby!!!! No mater what you need to do, sometdidcsoresdy and made a how to video. For me, $10,000 is REAL money.

I’m not interested in risking my life on some shaky car ramps or worse jacks. How are you getting your car lifted?

The plastic ramps (Rhino-brand, if it matters. You can find them everywhere) are plenty sturdy and stable. You just drive up them slowly and stop when you feel your front tires touch the raised lip. Totally safe. I just did my oil today in fact. $24 for 5qt jug Mobil 1 5w-20 synthetic and $9 for a filter. So I paid $33 dollars and 20 minutes of my morning to do it myself. You can’t even get through Jiffy Lube in less than 20 min. And wayyyy more money at the lube place.

That’s like a $90 savings over what OP is paying.

DP but that made me chuckle. Probably autocorrect didn't recognize Valvoline. Vaseline did remind me of poppop working on an old 1930s roadster that used non-detergent oil. Would have to pull the crankcase and wipe out the waxy vaseline like buildups in the engine on those old engines periodically.

I know my info is dated but I just can’t get on board with jiffy lubes and their like. There were many stories of them ripping off consumers and doing unnecessary and bad work in the late 90s and early 00s. That sticks with me. Either a dealer coupon or better yet a well regarded independent shop for me.

The local place by me charges $50 for OW20. That’s where we go. Our Honda dealership will also sometimes run coupons so we have also gone there. I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $60. Why are some places so much?

I just looked up a full synthetic oil change at Jiffy Lube in Fairfax for a Toyota Camry and the price said...starting at $108.99. There was a $10 coupon available so that's $99. I have no idea if that includes taxes, disposal fees, etc. If you live near a Midas, you can get a full synthetic oil change with a coupon from their website ($20 off) for a total of $88. That's the best I know. Others like Meineke and NTB are around $99 as well. Oh and the Midas oil change comes with a tire rotation for that $88!

$90 for a full synthetic oil change is pretty good. I don't use Jiffy Lube so I don't know about the upselling but you may just have to listen to the pitch and save the $40.

I'm sorry but I would be frugal on other things. This is your very expensive car.

Look for coupons at Auto Zone, Pep Boys and Valvoline chain type stores. Also, Costco, Sam’s Club and Walmart. I live in another state and recently received a coupon from my dealer for $29.99. Coupons are out there, you just have to look. Be sure to compare prices with the oil that your car requires.

I doubt you’ll see enough difference to trade price for convenience. Personally, we’re super handy and I’d never change my oil.
