Girls may have to go play in USL-W league for a few years in order to be competitive for D1.

We know 2025 was a mess, 2026 will be affected - more so on the back half of the recruiting cycle...2027 as stated above gets some fallout as well. maybe 2028 it starts to even and then is it 2029 that finally is less affected (and i mean less affected as all the mess if flatter - the limits have been in place and weeded out, etc and the schools are back in a normal pattern)

The settlement, NIL, transfer portal and roster caps have completely changed the landscape for the non-revenue sports.
The NIL system is completed messed up with zero guardrails in place and the transfer portal has completely changed the game.
My nephew is a 2026 grad year and will be playing U18 next year for an MLS Academy team. While he has had interest from colleges, there just hasn't been anything solid. He continues to push forward with the process but it's pretty tough.
My daughter is a 2027 and has just started the process and we are certainly aware of the challenges that are out there. I know that many of the girls on the 2026 team have really had things slow down for them and there are quite a few that haven't committed yet. It will be interesting in seeing where this all goes, but it is certainly different than it once was.

i've heard the same people brag that can look at a 75 player tryout and have the entire team picked in 5 minutes.
this type of attitude lends to think, why couldn't a coach recruit from a HS game - if they can spot if a kid can or can't play that quickly and have implied they can tell if the kid has "it" within 5 minutes, then what is the difference.

How would they know you meant HS age and not HS soccer?
Boys are also HS age before college so saying HS is redundant
