My 19 year old had all her pubic hair lasered off, so I would be fine with arm hair. Flame away.

I wouldn't care.

How dark is it, OP?

This was something I wanted as a teen that now strikes me as irrational. Don't let her do it unless her hair is crazy dark and thick. Mine is dark but it has lightened with age and it looks 100% fine and it would be weird not to have it now.

I would not pay for laser for a kid too lazy to shave.

Is your objection getting laser or the body part? I am hairy and have removed my arm hair for decades. My take is that people who question it just aren’t hairy enough to have their opinion count for much.

I would pay for it for my 18 year old.

This does not work for many skin tones.

+1. An abundance of long, thick, yellowish white hair looks really weird on a lot of people.

I've used a trimmer on it and it doesn't grow back thick. I wouldn't spend the money on laser for that but if she wants to pay, NBD.

Don’t encourage this. Shave wax or laser.

Buy the Braun IPL on Amazon. It's like $350 and she can do arms, legs, bikini area.....and so can you. Super easy, not expensive. I've done it and it seems safe to use by guidelines.

I waxed it in the past, thinking that shaving would make it grow back thicker/faster. I was in a rush for an event once and ended up having to shave it. It took forever to grow back and looked the same as it did before, not worse. Anyway, I now spend about 15 minutes on it every year, shaving once every 2 months or so. Just do that!

DO IT. It's not like it's surgery, with risks. I've spend decades hating my dark arm hair, and haven't ever really made total peace with it. I wish my mom hadn't been so dismissive of my desire to change little things like that. She always pulled the "you're beautiful just the way you are" line, with zero regard for how I felt.

I'd just let her know that it doesn't always hold up forever. So she might have to get it done multiple times. And yes, I'd have her pay for it. Unless she was going to go somewhere too sketchy, then I'd think about helping defray the cost somewhere nicer.

I'd encourage nair or the like in the meantime.
