No problem getting classes, though I think one semester he had to postpone taking something until the following semester - not a big deal though. And is now studying abroad and will still graduate in four years.
He absolutely loves VT.
+1 The kids that take 5 years to graduate usually dropped a class here or there....

+1 my son is graduating from VT this year, after four years. He says all his friends are graduating in four except one who transferred from an OOS school needs an extra year. Even a friend who took a while to settle on his major, and did a semester abroad, is done in four years.
