Weather forecast calls for a high of 24 degrees in Hamilton. Four years at Colgate no thanks

Colgate is significantly more selective

They fill about 60% of the class with ED applicants, so it's the top choice for many of them. I can say from experience that Hamilton is indeed very remote and cold.

ED=/=top choice, it's the strategic choice they made knowing they weren't getting into Dartmouth early and that Colgate heavily weights admissions toward early applicants.

Colgate alum - I think this is mostly covered, but just in case:

1. Both are heavy greek.
2. Both are isolated, though Bucknell much closer to DC.
3. Both similar types of students though Colgate deliberately has tried to boost their stats of admitted students.
4. Bucknell has some business and finance classes, Colgate is lacking here.
5. Weather is rough in both but moreso at Colgate.

My student was semi-interested but after some analysis realized there are other schools of this size with better sports, weather and towns/cities. You really need to understand the isolation, weather and greek-heavy aspects of these schools.

This is the first time Bucknell has ever been viewed as not as isolated. Says a lot about Hamilton. If you are in DMV, Bucknell is about half as far away. Both Lewisburg and Hamilton are cute towns but not a lot around either of them.

Seems student populations are similar. Like just switch entire student bodies overnight and everything would look exactly the same.

Well that covers both schools, it is just that Colgate is a bit colder.

That sounds like Middelbury.

Wouldn’t pay 85-90k to go to Colgate or Bucknell both extremely in the middle of nowhere. If into sports why go there.

+1 from another Colgate alum. Half my floor of KED had applied to Dartmouth and not gotten in (not me though.) Bucknell was my second choice but I applied ED to Colgate.

Colgate is so much more prestigious. From a post-graduation standpoint, it will open up a lot more doors. Completely different caliber of student.

You don't think Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, is isolated?
