There are a decent amount of middle school teachers who have children in elementary school. The current schedule is great for them, the new schedule will be horrible. They'll have to find after school child care.

DW says she would consider going back to teaching an upper grade in the ES.

There are a decent amount of middle school teachers who have children in elementary school. The current schedule is great for them, the new schedule will be horrible. They'll have to find after school child care.

1. You must be kidding. Karl Frisch gets tens of thousands in donations from liberal donors (heavily LBGTQ) out of state. He doesn't need all of it to run for SB, so a lot of it eventually makes its way to other D candidates for SB and other local offices. Once elected, these folks know where the money came from and happily support left-wing policies.

2. It was a right-wing court that paved the way for fewer restrictions on campaign contributions in Citizens United, so the Rs can't act surprised when it occasionally backfires on them.

The Rs need to stop the culture wars, it is beyond ridiculous. If they focused just on academics (and distancing themselves from trump/maga), they would probably get a lot more support

If Rs really want to win local School Board seats, they need to select less Trumpy candidates and plow money into the races in the four districts where they might be competitive (Braddock, Dranesville, Springfield, and Sully).

Why would anyone out of Virginia donate money to Fairfax County School Board candidates? Tons of money coming in. What's their agenda? Ban out of state donations and cap in state donations.

Trump was so unpopular in 2019 in Fairfax that Democratic candidates swept almost all local elections in Fairfax.

2019: Anderson won over a GOP-endorsed candidate 17,597 to 4,921.

2023: Anderson won over a GOP-endorsed challenger 16,009 to 8,951.

Once elected, School Board members typically can get re-elected as many times as they want, assuming they get the FCDC endorsement, based simply on name recognition and party affilition. Anderson's smaller margin in 2023 probably reflects the fact that her opponent was not quite as far right as her opponent in 2019, although some might claim it reflects some dissatisfaction with her performance. Mason is heavily Democratic so it really doesn't matter who the D candidate is or how they perform once elected. They will easily beat a GOP-endorsed candidate in that district.
