Hearst parent here. The OP says “parents have been told to their faces they are racist for bringing it up.” No mention of “any time.” I agree that “any time” would strain credulity, but that it could happen once is all too plausible, sadly.

I find it hard to believe that "any time" someone (adult parent or student) complained about this teacher that they were labeled a racist by the principal. That seems to stretch credulity.

Parents deserve answers to all these questions. Admin’s response all year has been a) that kids are making up being yelled at all day and
b) that kids are prejudiced.
So sick of the contempt admin shows concerned parents. 😡

Also have two kids at Hearst (not in 4th) and had no idea. What in the world?! Has anything been said today?

I’m one of the PPs and no - different DCPS. But DCPS did an awful job dealing with it. Don’t want to go into details, but just like multiple failures.

No, different school

Good luck. The current principal was in lockstep with the prior principal in implementing a range of inappropriate and distracting social justice warrior policies. It took away from actual instructional time and prevented a number of repeatedly violent students from being removed out of fear of the “optics.” Good riddance.
